The 3 reasons you want to consider revisiting your digital strategy with Baby Boomers:
iPAD, Smart Phones and Netbooks!
On a recent java stop (a.ka. Grant's Ethnograph Study) to my local #starbucks, I observed 3 Baby Boomer folks, in town for a wedding, "reading their paper", "Checking wedding event schedules", "playing an online game with their kids & grandkids"!
Lady in the pink top was reading her local, Detroit area paper on her new iPAD, the guy was showing his wife a new app for her iPHONE. Also, the guy was just checking his Blackberry for business and personal email, while his wife, who had the #Kindle reader software on her Netbook, was reading a book!
Knowing that the Baby Boomer generation has control (or significant influence over) most of the wealth and discretionary income in the US, you may want to dedicate some effort to evaluate your digitial strategies and how they align to your Boomer Demographics. Are you moving your products, or services, down the technologically innovative evolution trendline, or are you hanging on to your outdated channels?
"Hey, I don't play in that market segment" you say, well these folks can be big influencers on the segments you do target, so again, see how this piece fits in your overall plans...
